The client is an American multinational manufacturer of tires for automobiles, commercial trucks, light trucks, motorcycles, SUVs, race cars, airplanes, farm equipment, and heavy earth-mover machinery.
With over 1,000 retail locations across the United States, America’s largest tire manufacturer was looking to hire retail store managers who could productively lead teams of associates, exceed targeted sales goals, and handle day-to-day operations (customer service, financial reporting, training, staffing, etc.) efficiently.
Shaker built a custom Virtual Job Tryout with a realistic job preview featuring company messaging and a video from the company’s CEO and high-fidelity simulations that allowed candidates to navigate sample financials and complete tasks required on the job.
The candidates who scored highest on the Virtual Job Tryout had higher yearly store revenue, averaging $89K in additional sales. These candidates also sold an average of 19 percent more key services and 15 percent more in preventative maintenance.
What a great way to collect information, it made it fun and informative at the same time. As a shop general manager with extensive automotive background, I agree that this test is similar to real life job experience.
I feel that this is something that all companies should require. This would give me a great idea as to what the person I am hiring is not only capable of doing but also the personality of that person. Really interesting!
Thank you for allowing me to demonstrate my skills and present relevant experiences as a Service Manager. It was very engaging and informative process.
This was a great idea and planned very well. The instructions were clear and to the point and all of the answers were able to be accessed. Thank you for the opportunity. That was actually fun!
